The western front of Gdańsk’s city centre is the key fragment of a ring road scheme, which was created at the turn of the 20th century during the great transformation of the city. It was at that time that new streets and squares were delineated on the site of the early modern earthen bastions, which for more than three centuries marked Gdańsk’s border. The new city development was set up in their surroundings. In 1945, Gdańsk was destroyed and attempts at its redevelopment were undertaken after the war. The majority of the prepared designs were not implemented at all or were implemented fragmentarily only, which led to a visible degradation of the western front, which currently functions mainly as a thoroughfare.

W okresie łódzkim do tych interesujących Nowosielskiego tematów należą oprócz wciąż tworzonych kompozycji abstrakcyjnych, w tym wyjątkowych, organicznych, także zmagania z realizmem. Przez cały okres łódzki nieustająco jednak tworzył prace realistyczne: akty, sceny przedstawiające kobiety na plaży, gimnastyczki i pływaczki, sceny rodzajowe we wnętrzach, portrety, grupy z muzykantami, martwe natury i pejzaże, malarstwo sakralne, scenografie, a przede wszystkim pejzaże miejskie, łódzkie. Nowosielski potrafił jednak w swoich płótnach znaleźć własny styl. Można by go nazwać świadomym prymitywizmem nowoczesnym, w którym przedmioty nie tracą swojej realności. Dlatego obrazy Nowosielskiego są łatwo komunikatywne, a czasem także pełne wdzięku. Nowosielski, mieszkając w Łodzi, początkowo żyje z posady kierownika artystycznego państwowej Dyrekcji Teatrów Lalek, później wykładowcy w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych, a także z etatu w Miejskim Biurze Projektów w Łodzi przy kolorystycznym projektowaniu fasad. To właśnie podczas swojego łódzkiego okresu, artysta miał szansę wziąć udział w wystawie artystów polskich na XXVIII Biennale Sztuki w Wenecji w 1956 roku. Miasto opuszcza we wrześniu 1962 roku, tuż przed czterdziestką. Od tego czasu do śmierci jest już związany z Krakowem, gdzie pracuje w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych.
