Umożliwiają poznanie i rozumienie cudzych, a potem własnych motywów działania.
The Silver Spoon, the most influential and successful Italian cookbook of the last 50 years, is now available in a brand new revised edition. Originally published in 1950, it became an instant classic, selling over one million copies in eight editions. Considered essential in every household, it continues to be one Italy’s most popular wedding presents.
The Silver Spoon was first conceived and published by Domus, Italy’s famed design and architectural magazine. A select group of cooking experts were commissioned to collect hundreds of traditional Italian recipes and make them available for the first time to a wider modern audience. In the process, they updated ingredients, quantities and methods to suit contemporary tastes and customs, at the same time preserving the memory of ancient recipes for future generations. They furthermore included modern recipes from some of the most famous Italian chefs, resulting in a style of cooking that appeals to the gourmet chef and the amateur enthusiast alike.
A comprehensive and lively book, its uniquely stylish and user-friendly format makes it accessible and a pleasure to read. The new edition features new introductory material covering such topics as how to compose a traditional Italian meal, typical food traditions of the different regions, and how to set an Italian table. Its over 2,000 recipes are illustrated with newly commissioned photographs and contains a new section of menus by celebrated chefs cooking traditional Italian food.

The world's greatest living footballer is 60 this year, and here is the long-awaited, fully authorised story of his life. With exclusive access to Pele, award-winning sports writer Harry Harris charts his meteoric rise from humble beginnings in Brazil to his first international at the age of sixteen. Superb athlcticism, speed of thought and execution, and astonishing ball control helped him become the only player to have appeared in three World Cup winning sides, and to have scored more than one thousand goals in his senior career. A world-class sporting hero, Pele is an inspiration to millions.
The German Centre for Aviation and Space Travel created very precise digital pictures of thirteen mountains with the aid of satellite photographs taken from a height of several hundred kilometres. Scientists used these to produce models of the terrain, which were finally turned into photorealistic, ‘virtual’ views from perspectives and heights that had been hitherto impossible.
They capture all the individual features of these giant mountains as an almost tangible reality – the third dimension as a brand new experience. The location of the virtual camera at various places in the topographical map gives a precise picture of the three-dimensional form of each mountain, while infographics and descriptions of the geology, glaciology, geography and climatology detail its individual characteristics.
These mountain portraits are completed by personal accounts written by some of the finest climbers in the world and accompanied by a selection of authentic photographs. The accounts from different eras join together with the latest satellite technology, the history of climbing, and the geographical background knowledge to create a unique and comprehensive picture of the mountains and their trail-blazing climbers.
Bookshelves showcase our favourite books and most treasured objects, are useful and practical - but, far from reducing them to their simplest function, we love the fact that they reflect our style and individuality, becoming design features in their own right and, yet, harmoniously fitting into our living spaces. They are also relatively easy to make and accessible to everyone. There is no need to be an experienced handyman to realize these original designs: this book presents fourteen do-it-yourself projects with step-by-step photos, plans and technical tips. And for inspiration, Aurélie Drouet, presents some of the more ambitious library and bookcase projects by leading designers and architects.
Beer is still widely underestimated. It is a taste-intensive and surprisingly versatile accompaniment to good food—often better suited than wine. When a strong companion for a meal is needed, a beer’s spices and hoppy character make it an excellent choice. This book gives you the fundamentals to explore the pleasurable pairing of food and beer, along with varied recipes and useful tips.
But beer is not only for drinking. Used as an ingredient, it can provide dishes with the perfect seasoning. It can work as a harmonious complement to a dish or provide it with a surprising contrast, remaining distinct while not overshadowing any flavors. On Beer and Food opens a world of taste possibilities.

Podczas snu kontrola kory mózgowej nad oddychaniem ustaje, a dominują złożone automatyzmy neurohormonalne. Poznawanie tych zależności pozwala na systematyzowanie zjawisk patologicznych i umożliwia poszukiwanie dla nich odpowiedniej terapii.Praktycznym celem leczenia zaburzeń oddychania podczas snu jest poprawa aktywności dziennej osób, u których je ujawniono i profilaktyka późnych następstw tych zaburzeń.Ta bogato ilustrowana monografia przedstawia w kompleksowy sposób zaburzenia oddychania podczas snu u dzieci i dorosłych, które wynikają m.in. ze zwężenia dróg oddechowych lub zaburzeń układu nerwowego. Wybitne grono specjalistów, na podstawie przypadków klinicznych, wyjaśnia zagadnienia dotyczące kodowania snu, różnicowania objawów i stawiania prawidłowej diagnozy.Publikacja niezbędna w codziennej praktyce specjalistów chorób płuc, internistów, kardiologów, otolaryngologów, neurologów, psychiatrów i techników polisomnografii.
W kręgu wszystkich wyznań występują próby przystosowania aktualnego standardu medycyny do reguł dogmatycznych i norm etycznych charakterystycznych dla każdego z nich. Publikowane w serii artykuły należą do różnych obszarów humanistyki: historii medycyny, historii religii i religioznawstwa, psychologii i socjologii religii, etnologii, antropologii kulturowej i historii kultury. W kolejnych tomach prezentujemy wyniki badań nad tą problematyką prowadzonych w kilkunastu polskich ośrodkach akademickich. Serię Medycyna i religia adresujemy przede wszystkim do studentów i doktorantów kierunków humanistycznych, ponieważ umożliwi im uzyskanie orientacji we współczesnym stanie badań. Adresujemy ją także do szerokiego grona Czytelników zainteresowanych tą problematyką

Everywhere in the world, tiles add colour and decoration to the façades and interiors of buildings. Both functional and decorative, and found in a multitude of shapes, sizes and designs – ranging from complex geometrical Islamic patterns to figurative 17th-century Delftware – they are among the most varied ceramic products. This striking book gathers together a diverse collection of ceramic tiles, and explores their rich history, purpose and decorative qualities.
An introduction traces the little-known history of tiles, from their earliest mass production in Europe in the 13th century to today, and presents the development of different types of tile. Throughout this stunning book, tiles in every variety of shape are organized chronologically to illustrate the evolution of styles. The Tile Book is luxuriously illustrated, with generous examples of each individual tile type and their overall laid patterns exhibited over double-page spreads. Captions provide descriptions of each tile, with some detailing interesting locations, trends or influential designers. Interspersed in this invaluable sourcebook, are tiles shown in situ around the world and at different periods in their remarkable history. This book is a dazzling mosaic, with colours and patterns that will uplift and inspire.
