Arriving in Paris from Ravenna in 1973, Paolo Roversi produced his first series of photographs in 1977, which were immediately picked up by the fashion press. From then on, he devoted himself to fashion photography, working for the greatest designers and for the most prestigious magazines, simultaneously occupying a position both at the heart of the fashion world and far from its ephemeral trends.
Ultimately in search of pure beauty, he formulates timeless and mysterious work, which is defined by his choice of studio and use of large format and Polaroid cameras. At the heart of his photography are his dedicated relationships with fashion designers and models, most famously with Yohji Yamamoto, as well as Romeo Gigli, Rei Kawakubo and Dior, and these fruitful collaborations have allowed Roversi to continuously challenge and renew his practice.
Conceived and designed in close collaboration with the photographer, and drawing on his archives, this book features many original prints, including some that have never been seen before. Spanning the entirety of Roversi’s career, it explores his approach to his creative space and the way he treats it like a theatre stage, constantly reinventing it to suit each new collaboration.

The phantoms and ghouls of Japanese folklore are in this book driven back into the world of the living. Mysterious brides melt into mist, paintings come alive, and man-eating goblins barter for redemption. Traditional Japanese folktales and legends, infused with memories of Lafcadio Hearn’s own haunted childhood, are here masterfully retold.

Who says lesbians can't be funny?
Explores iconic fashion items and their revolutionary impact on fashion history
Includes historical illustrations, cult advertising, and beautiful still life shots
Discusses the cultural and sociopolitical significance of fashion classics
Perfect for fashion enthusiasts and historians
When it comes to fashion, the term icon is almost invariably associated with a person: a man or, more often, a woman whose style has left a mark on the collective imagination. And yet, there are also objects that have the same extraordinary evocative power, items of clothing or accessories which, in different ways, have revolutionised the history of fashion. The birth of the Burberry trench coat, flat pumps or Givenchys little black dress were milestones after which nothing was ever the same. Each designer, label or fast-fashion manufacturer has had to come to terms with fashion icons existence, by quoting or revisiting them, or simply by copying creations that have now become classics. Some of these are even known by their original name, like the Kelly bag and Borsalino hats. Others, over the years, have also gained sociopolitical connotations (Levis jeans, for example, which were once workwear, became a symbol of the Sixties youth revolution), while others, such as Hermès scarves and Chanel No.5 perfume, continue to be status symbols. This book with historical illustrations, cult advertising and beautiful still life shots of the products featured, narrates the history and anecdotes, and tells of the famous people and intrinsic values relating to the must-have fashion items.

'Put simply, it doesn't matter how many coffee table books you have on fashion or on film: this one is essential, and delightful, and beautiful.' One & Other
A beautifully illustrated celebration of the life and work of activist, provocateur, and fashion icon, Vivienne Westwood.
Vivienne Westwood spent more than five decades breaking the rules and pushing the envelope of the fashion world. Renowned for her rebellious spirit and avant-garde designs, Westwood lived a life dedicated to a free artistic expression that continues to redefine fashion and inspire generations worldwide. She gifted us countless iconic moments and designs, from her days at the Kings Road ‘SEX’ shop and wearing no knickers to receive her OBE from the Queen, to her trailblazing 90s runway collections and her tireless pursuit of social and climate justice.
Beginning with her working-class upbringing and traversing through the McLaren years, her contributions to early punk culture, her most iconic collections and her activism, amongst more, Vivienne Westwood is a new illustrated guide to a true one-of-a-kind.
Longtime collaborators of Pierre Cardin, Jean-Pascal Hesse and Pierre Pelegry share their intimate knowledge of the fashion designer’s early career in Paris. They analyze the influences that inspired him to conceive not only some of the most iconic haute couture creations of the 1950s and 1960s, but also the space-ageinflected Cosmocorps collection, which presciently explored gender fluidity.
By drawing upon sources that have been assembled over more than two decades—from Cardin’s personal recollections to many exclusive photographs by Yoshi Takata and Roland de Vassal—this book pays tribute to the modernity of a visionary creator who revolutionized fashion on a global scale.

Dress Codes
The ultimate compendium of clothing from the 18th to the 20th century
Clothes define people. A person’s attire, whether it be a sari, kimono, or business suit, is an essential code to his or her culture, class, personality, even faith. Indeed, clothing has the power to define people and their generation. Recognizing this sartorial significance is the Kyoto Costume Institute, whose team of curators examine fashion through sociological, historical, and artistic perspectives. With one of the world’s most extensive clothing collections, the KCI has amassed a wide range of historical garments, including underwear, shoes, and fashion accessories dating from the 18th century to the present day.
Showcasing the Institute’s vast collection, Fashion History is a fascinating excursion through clothing trends from the 18th to the 20th century. With photographs of clothing displayed on custom-made mannequins and commentary from some of the sharpest minds in fashion studies, the book is a testimony to attire as “an essential manifestation of our very being” and to the Institute’s passion for fashion as a complex and intricate art form.
“Zen is not effort. Effort is tension, effort is work, effort is to achieve something. Zen is not something to achieve. Just relax, relax so deeply that you become a revelation to yourself.” – Zen proverb
“Zen” is the Japanese pronunciation of Chinese chán, meaning “meditation”. Rather than representing a particular ethic or set of beliefs, Zen Buddhism – as practiced in Japan since the 12th century – is a discipline that seeks to reveal profound insight into the nature of things through thought, experience and meditation, passing on wisdom from master to disciple, rather than through reliance on formal doctrine and ideas.
Zen emphasizes rigorous self-restraint, the practice of meditation, and perceiving the true nature of reality through mindfulness. This insight can be expressed in daily life through acts of kindness towards others.
Beautifully produced in traditional Chinese binding, Zen Wisdom offers more than 80 succinct quotes from Zen masters such as Bankei Yōtaku, Matsuo Bashō, and the Buddha, on topics as wide-ranging as discovering purpose, maintaining concentration, mindfulness, tranquility, learning, kindness and finding joy.

A tribute to the designer Issey Miyake
In 1983, Japanese designer Issey Miyake told The New Yorker that he aspired “to forge ahead, to break the mold.” With the boundary-defying fashion lines that followed, he not only broke molds, but recast clothing altogether. With a unique fusion of poetry and practicality, his creations blur the boundaries between tradition, modern technology, and everyday function.
This definitive history of Miyake’s clothes from 1960 to 2022 offers expert insight into the designer’s vision and daring. Initiated and conceived by Midori Kitamura, the book looks at the texture-driven originality of Miyake’s materials and techniques from the very earliest days of his career, before he had even established the Miyake Design Studio. Drawing on nearly 50 years of collaborative work with Miyake, Kitamura creates an encyclopedic reference of his material and technical innovations through the clothes based on A Piece of Cloth concept, Body Series of the 1980s, Miyake Pleats series, and such practical, everyday designs as Pleats Please pieces.
Stunning photographs capture his clothes in their particular quotidian originality. In her far-reaching essay, meanwhile, leading cultural figure Kazuko Koike offers both a complete chronology of Miyake’s work, and an unprecedented personal profile, looking at the ambition and inspirations that have driven his repertoire from tender teenage years. A must-have for designers, students, and fashion devotees, this is a timeless tribute to one of the most innovative makers of our age.

To właśnie Ritzowi białostoczanie przypisali miano symbolu.
