Time Out is the 1959 album by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz (mainly waltz or double-waltz time, but also 9/8, and most famously 5/4).
Although the album was intended as an experiment and received negative reviews by critics upon its release, it became one of the best-known and biggest-selling jazz albums ever. Obviously, timing is everything!

The great jazz-fusion band Weather Report releases their self-titled debut album in 1971. The young musicians created an original and fluid record, which would define the state of the jazz rock by that time. Wayne Shorter's (1960s Miles Davis ensemble) soprano sax shines and reveals with full force the extraordinary rapport the members of the group established from the start. The music consist of subtle melody lines and is mostly an atmospheric adventurous journey. Influences from Mile Davis' "In A Silent Way" / "Bitches Brew" sessions can be heard throughout this record. The other prominent member from the Miles Davis ensemble is the keyboard player Joe Zawinul. Altogether they're performing this historical document, a soundtrack for your imagination and head.
Throughout most of its existence, the band was a quintet of keyboards, saxophone, bass, drums and percussion. Famous members were the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter, keyboard player Joe Zawinul, bassist Jaco Pastorius and drummer Chester Thompson.

Mother Earth is the first album by the Dutch metal band Within Temptation. Featuring Sharon den Adel as the only vocalist the direction of the band changed from their doomy sound from the former EPs to a more symphonic style. The title song opens with a beautiful orchestral melody before powerful drumming and guitar riffs pumping in. "Ice Queen" reached number one in both the Netherlands and Belgium. With its prominent string arrangement and lyrical content, it was a fine song in the early zero's. Overall Mother Earth is an emotive and thoughtful collection of musical ideas overridden by some impressive vocal expressions.

Contraband is the critically acclaimed debut studio album by American Hard Rock band Velvet Revolver, which was originally released in 2004. The supergroup consists of former Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum, alongside Dave Kushner, formerly of punk band Wasted Youth, and Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland. Contraband debuted at number one on the American Billboard 200 chart and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. Metal Church is the self-titled debut album of the heavy metal band of the same name. The album was originally released independently in 1984. Based on the success of the album, the band was signed to a recording contract by Elektra, who reissued Metal Church in 1985. The cover art depicts a cruciform Gibson Explorer hidden in shadows and smoke. Some of their most notable songs are the opener "Beyond The Black", their title track, the instrumental "Merciless Onslaught", "Gods Of Wrath" (which is different from all the other songs, as it had clean vocals, clean rhythms, and fluent solos) and the Deep Purple cover "Highway Star". The album is produced by Metal Church and Terry Date (Pantera, Slayer, Prong).

Blood, Sweat & Tears is not the first band to ever use a horn section, but they are the first to fuse it with rock, jazz, and some blues thrown in for good measure.
